High School - Pittsburgh Central Catholic

Specialized in making big plays for Pittsburgh Central Catholic's undefeated state champion team as a senior...averaged 11.3 yards per carry, compiling 1,161 yards and 12 touchdowns on 103 attempts...averaged 24.7 yards per catch on 17 receptions for 420 yards...also had five interceptions (one returned for a TD), three fumble recoveries and two blocked kicks...played versatile roles, lining up at receiver, running back, cornerback, kick returner and punt returner...led Central Catholic to a 16-0 record and the PIAA and WPIAL Class AAAA championships...played under Coach Terry Totten...earned three football letters at Central Catholic...also lettered in track and field...selected to play in the Big 33 Football Classic.

    2008

    • Played in all 13 games as a true frosh...had three blocked punts (Iowa, Notre Dame and Cincinnati)...additionally collected nine tackles and one fumble recovery...recovered a fumbled punt vs. Louisville...had a season-high two tackles against Iowa and Notre Dame...in addition to special teams, also served as a reserve free safety who saw time in specialized packages.

    Sophmore

    2009

    • Started opening two games at free safety before suffering a season-ending left knee injury at Buffalo...received a medical redshirt...had four tackles on the year...recovered a fumble on the kickoff cover unit at Buffalo that Pitt converted into a TD and 14-0 first-quarter lead.

    RS Sophmore

    2010

    • Played in 11 games, contributing on special teams and as a reserve safety... had 15 tackles, one TFL and two blocked punts on the year...had career-high six tackles and a blocked punt vs. Kentucky in BBVA Compass Bowl...Pitt parlayed the block into a TD and 13-3 halftime lead...also had a blocked punt at USF... saw significant time in the secondary against Cincinnati and had three tackles and one TFL...named to the Big East All-Academic Football Team.

    Junior

    2011

    • Played in all 13 games at safety, starting the last six contests of the year...totaled 49 tackles, two PBUs, two fumble recoveries, an interception, one forced fumble, one sack and a blocked punt...had a career-high eight tackles vs. Syracuse and the game-clinching INT with 2:28 left...blocked punt came in the Utah game and was returned by Antwuan Reed 10 yards for a touchdown...it was Pitt's first score off a blocked punt since 1991 and gave Taglianetti a school-record six blocked punts for his career...also had seven tackles vs. Utah...had five tackles and two fumble recoveries at West Virginia...had a seven-yard sack against Notre Dame...named to the Big East All-Academic Football Team for the second consecutive season.
